Today I was rummaging around and was wondering what there was available to support kids activities. One of the aspects of reaching your vision is goal setting and a component of that is the To-Do List.
In the past I would start the day and work on the first thing that came to mind with what I thought was the most important. I attend stock market traders meetings, and at one of these meetings, the speaker spoke on the importance of goal setting and the To-Do List. But in order to reach the individual goal you need to complete the individual tasks, hence the To-Do List.
I used to have a problem with this until I started creating a To-Do List each morning. Boy, what a difference. I spend a little time each morning reviewing what I did the day before, what was left undone and what needs to be done today. With this information I create today’s To-Dos List. I start with the undone items from the day-before. If they are as important today as they were yesterday, I will start with them.Then I add the items that need to be completed today. After the list is completed, then I will review the list and prioritize it.
Now I start working on items on the list usually in the order that I prioritized it. (Remember things happen during the day and your priorities can not always be kept. If a new item comes in during the day, I just add it to the list. Also, if I worked on something that I had not added to the list, I just add it to the list and check it off as done.) When setting my priorities I like to give the highest priority to those items that can be done quickly. Getting something accomplished is a great feeling and gets the going in the right direction.
A written task is 17 times more likely to get done than one just kept in memory. Remember that getting the individual task completed is a step towards reaching your vision.
